The Lark Gardens Story

Ray and Lita Kilpatrick of Lark Gardens in Powell Butte, Oregon. The name 'Lark' - comes from the first letters of our names Lita and Ray Kilpatrick. The Meadow Lark is the official bird of Oregon.

The development of our line of herbal flavored vinegars has been a labor of love. Living here in beautiful Central Oregon, we found the opportunity to grow wonderful, flavorful herbs in our gardens to infuse vinegars and transform them into a culinary adventure for salads, marinades and sauces. We start with mild Japanese Rice Wine Vinegar that doesn't bite or irritate your throat. Then we add a blend of seasonal herbs to produce 6 colorful and original rice wine vinegar flavors. They are wonderful as is, or with just a little virgin olive oil. All natural and heart-friendly as well with a mild sweet taste.

Here's how it all began!!

Ray and Lita Kilpatrick of Lark Gardens.During spring and summer - the herbs in our gardens grow bountifully. Japanese Rice Wine Vinegar was a happy new discovery for us. Why not combine them and see what can be produced? We filled a gallon bottle of the vinegar with colorful peppercorns - mustard seeds - and a selection of fresh herbs. The bottle was set aside and almost forgotten. When it was opened - WOW - what wonderful flavors we found. The herbs and spices had mellowed the vinegar into a special treat on the tongue. All those who tasted it loved the flavor. Why not develop this product commercially for the enjoyment of others? And Lark Gardens Gourmet Herbal Rice Wine Vinegars were born!!
